Markus Manstroma was born in the United States but raised in the United Kingdom. He studied art history and painting at Campus West College Hertford. He owned his own art gallery in Lubbock, Texas in the 1990s.

Markus has always had a knack for the State of Texas. He met the love of his life in Texas early in his career and followed her to California for over two decades. Shortly after her death, he moved to the Big Bend Region in 2019.

His art captures the magic, mystery and history of the Big Bend Region. Markus has painted famous historical landmarks like the Starlight Theatre, Big Bend National Park, Old Church Terlingua, and showcases the aliens that visit the Big Bend National Park according to the rumors abounding in the Region. His contemporary style blends folk art with surrealism. His vibrant colors and unique style were inspired by his childhood love for comics.

Co-Owner of Rodman’s Art Gallery

Markus co-owned Rodman’s Art Gallery in Lubbock, Texas with his sister Pam. The gallery showcased local artists and created work areas for artists of all levels. Markus loves creating a community wherever he goes and loves to help those in need, especially other artists.
